A modest proposal

This report says that Eric R. Pianka, a prestigious research ecologist, advocates releasing the Ebola virus to eliminate 90% of human beings and thus save the Earth. I offer an alternative method to cleanse the world of humans. Let's raise the income tax to 99%.

I admit that Pianka's proposal has an advantage over mine. Once we achieve the 90% extermination goal, stopping the Ebola epidemic may prove easier than convincing governments to cut back the tax rate.

  1. I used to favor bird flu as a possible 50% remedy. However, I think it better to put everyone in 80 expensive boxes. These boxes are habitats, 1020 feet high, 16 miles on a side, roof area of 256 sq miles, and these house 80,250,000 people each. China needs 44 boxes, India, 13 boxes. The US needs 4 boxes.

Each of the 6.5 billion humans have a floor space of 4000 sq ft, and a family of four humans a total of 16,000 square feet. The single human volume, including his 4000 sq ft personal space is actually a volume of 80,000 cubic feet with 48,000 cubic feet his part of the infrastructure, for plumbing, air, lightpipes and internal elavators, hallways and shafts as well as his contribution to the internal food production, preparation, and distribution system. Every thing is rigorously recycled. No one but a few farmers go outside, regularly, except for support for supple3mental water supply, and the power distribution teams, that operate scattered solar, wind, geothermal and some hydro thermal exchange units. The roof is a 256 square mile area of some farms and many recreation areas. You can picnic on the roof, party, run, exercise, swim, etc.

The idea is to put everybody back into a comfortable domicile, replacement level population, and gradual reduction to half or so. Science is primary pursuit with much effort into building solar power satellites and rectenaes downside.

When pop gets to a manageable number we can let some out gradually with real resrtictions. The idea is to disengage from damaging other species and the ecosystem. Small science teams of a million or so can explore much and classify much.
