Property-rights socialism? No, dear
In an article in Conservation Biology, Losing the dark: a case for a national policy on land conservation, Robert F. Baldwin and Stephen C. Trombulak propose the nationalization of more US land for conservation purposes. They reckon that "the single most important obstacle will be private property rights," and to overcome it they advocate using "a lot of" taxpayer money to purchase land from their owners. To respect the property rights of landowners - so that they can "send their children to college or retire" - Baldwin and Trombulak want to keep violating the property rights of taxpayers.
